@nev A solid example, and yeah the "same creator" caveat is an interesting one. "Soulsborne" gives the sense that one creative team has largely defined the genre, but "Metroidvania" suggests that these two creators have bracketed the genre, and subsequent contributions to the space lie on the continuum they've defined.

As a word, it is such a great portmanteau but also such a strange outlier.
