It’s hard to get mad at a $90,000 bag of bushings when thousands of migrants are getting debit cards with thousands of dollars on them.

@SpoopyAnon @NitroDubs yeah, I mean a $5000 mug is a bit more outrageous - maybe just .. don't have a mug. Bearings are actually critical.

@NitroDubs @sickburnbro I remember $10,000 hammers and toilet seats from Daddy Bush era.

@NitroDubs @sickburnbro The reason those bushings cost so much is because the every part of the manufacturing process is traceable and verified, with the cost of insurance (in the event something goes wrong) priced into it.
Yeah the price is still retarded but it’s like that for a reason. This argument reminds me of when AOC asked aerospace manufacturers why they can’t just use machine screws (made in China) from Home Depot

@wastelad @NitroDubs right, and they have materials certs, and it's probably actually part of a contract to produce a lot more parts and the cost-per-part is just pretty high on the bearings.

@wastelad @NitroDubs the whole "wHy CaNt YoU UsE COTS?!?" has been whined about for decades now, and the reason I made the comment I did was to short circuit this whole painful "the military is costing too much, we have to make it more *efficient*" song and dance
