I was on jury duty in New York once. I remember a few things very clearly.
- I was working on loading hydrology data into yt on my laptop in the waiting room
- They had us watch a video that was *extremely* hokey and corny and low budget and also *very* effective at instilling a sense of duty
- All the food places I found were more expensive than I wanted
- I got dismissed

I was called and seated here in Champaign but then overnight they reached a plea deal or something. This experience was very different, as nearly everyone passed voir dire. (Small college town effects, I guess!)

@powersoffour I've been called twice.
* In Boston, the judge kindly agreed that sitting on a two month medical malpractice suit would prevent me from passing my classes.
* In LA I got to listen to an organ recital at lunch in a nearby church before being dismissed.

@ebellm also the soda machine at the courthouse here had a flavor of mt dew you can't get elsewhere but I will not spoil it in case you ever find yourself there and need a fun surprise.
