     @arcana @nyx @shrimp every once in a while there is a really really important task that is totally appropriate for the federal government but they would rather let a bunch of people die than take the chance that somebody might perceive the federal government doing a single thing right. They might develop expectations.

     @sun @arcana @nyx @shrimp This reminds me how at the crest of WuFlu panic, N95 masks became somewhat hard to find. At that time a country X (IIRC Germany) bought a few million masks from country Y (IIRC China). Then Trump sent special envoys, who paid someone and re-routed the shipment using American military transport planes. The country X was an ally (not Russia), and they were PISSED. Dunno if anyone else remembers that. The story quickly lost relevance together with the ventilators and all that crap.
