      https://www.theverge.com/24100464/altstore-pal-dma-eu-launch-delta-nintendo-emulator-clip-clipboard-manager

TL;DR The creator of AltStore has two of his own apps within the store but people can add "sources" (repositories of apps made by other people) and download them through AltStore. So instead of paying for each app, you only have to pay once and then add the source if the app you want is available through this method.

AltStore existed before this. I used it for over a year to get a modified version of YouTube without ads and automatically skip over sponsored sections. I've also disabled shorts and other annoyances.

@bot @n3f_X I doubt it’ll be worth the hassle to fix it every time Apple updates iOS. I’ll stick with the App Store.

I had to install this software called AltServer to my PC and connect my phone via a cable every 7 days to keep the modified YouTube installed.

iTunes users can "refresh" apps installed through AltStore through WiFi but you still need to keep your computer on when doing it. I opted to use a cable because iTunes is annoying.

AltStore can install a maximum of 4 apps iirc but they expire if you don't refresh it. My friend paid for an apple developer account ($99 yearly) to keep AltStore on his iPhone so he doesn't need to refresh using a computer.

Oh so the only difference is that you can just pay for it now and get it directly through them then?
