@lanodan the funniest part is that each sentiment somewhat makes sense in human society. Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this. -

@a1ba Yeah, it's why I like this comic.
Specially as I've been the LGPL/BSD one and maybe even WTFPL one depending on the context, the GPL one on the other hand… I don't think so or at least not for long because it feels like a waste of energy to me. -

@lanodan Ah yes, an image on licensing that is very incorrect drawn by a freedom hater.
No version of the GPL has any terms of the sort - the freedom hater is making things up (what a surprise).
It proceeds to pretend that the Lesser GPL's are completely different licenses, when they're the same terms of the ordinary GPL version, except with exceptions allowing linking with proprietary software, but carefully arranged so that the library itself remains free.
There are many different BSD licenses, with different terms, although most of them require retaining the license and attribution, rather than nothing.
The freest license in this context is the GPLv3, as it expressly states that it doesn't attempt to restrict things that would otherwise be allowed under copyright law and a temporary loan of that sort doesn't actually require copyright permission, as it doesn't qualify as distribution. -

@lanodan stallman dad just wants all kids in his neighbourhood to have "good manners" (in his subjective view, which is what some parents do)
LGPL dad cares about his own kid and teaches him what a property is.
BSD dad is just the chill one.
WTFPL dad... well... there are parents like him too.Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this. -

@lanodan
GNU/dad is spot on. 👍
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as dad, is in fact, GNU/dad, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus dad. 😂🤣Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this.
