   Not enough people are talking about how the course of American animation and syndicated cartoons was changed forever due to the OJ Simpson trial.

   No seriously, it is responsible for killing Gargoyles on TV and setting the standard of episodic cartoons instead of serials for years.

     @literalgrill That's insane! That's why Gargoyles had such a hard time? I loved that show and wondered why it was so abruptly cancelled.

     Other than the Bronco chase, I didn't follow the OJ trial other than during the nightly news. I guess I was fortunate in the fact that we had multiple TVs in the house and Mom was usually at work when the trial was going.

     @literalgrill It's amazingly bad luck for a great show. The weekly model anime uses might have been safer versus daily new episodes, but I can respect their ambition! It may have kicked off serialized animation in North America decades sooner.

     @silver_huskey It really is such a surprise right? Of course, we can't know if no trial would have resulted in the show succeeding too, but it was a major factor in its failure. Which is so sad because wow I enjoyed it so much too!
