@Flick @GelatinousRube @Cosmic STEM schools and Charter Schools have focus, public schools are tard-factories. Eliminate forced public-schooling, and do school choice. The shit-ass schools die because everyone leaves.

Secret assemblies that didn't require permission slips, teachers constantly evangelizing. My youngest was overtly bullied by her classmates and a particular teacher because she didn't fuck with pronouns. The worst bully's parents had her tits cut off and then lost her nipples to infection. It was horrifying and I'm glad my kid escaped to com college her junior year.

RubeWOW LLC (gelatinousrube@noauthority.social)'s status on Thursday, 11-Apr-2024 21:50:44 JST RubeWOW LLC @Cosmic I would have disagreed with you 15 years ago, but after watching the school district attempt to trans my children, and now seeing that Seattle has completely gutted and killed the gifted program I feel differently. There is also the social aspect. Parents around me were raising their kids to be useless marshmallows and thought I was abusive for having my kids walk short distances on their own to school and the library. Ugh

Cosmic (cosmic@noauthority.social)'s status on Thursday, 11-Apr-2024 21:50:45 JST Cosmic When I tell people to buy cheap real estate, I commonly hear “you have to pay if you want good schools.”
I am not sure this is true.
In 2024, if you get a hoity toity school district then they will troon your kids. If you pay $1m for an urban house then your kid will get the beatdown from gangsters in training like it’s prison.
Sure, rural schools are a bunch of dumb hick kids, but I’d think a small city school in a red state would be just ok. Not great, but ok.
Am I wrong?
