  Anything you generate heat with, well if you want to do anything useful with it, you want to generation motion.
  
  Boiling water is a very optimized way to change heat into motion, and turbines are the best way to turn motion into electrical potential.

They use electromagnetic fields to compress fuel to create fusion, and use the electromagnetic feedback from the mini-explosion to generate electricity directly rather than trying to use the heat to spin a turbine.

  I don't think anybody gets bent out of shape over it, just most people don't seem to realize this and it blows their minds. They seem to think things like nuclear energy just turns into electricity or something.
