   The Unionist Barnett figure of £2000 extra per head spent in Scotland. Where does it come from? It's been £2000 / head for as long as I can remember, and no one ever questions it. Surely it can't still just be £2000 if that's how much it was 20 years ago.

     @CloudyMrs given that it's almost all made up, I'm guessing they can't be bothered to make up new numbers. The only people who pay any attention to it are politicians anyway.

     @CloudyMrs Oh, that's an interesting point. Did you try writing to your MSP or MP to ask about it? It's the kind of thing that the Parliamentary Library or SPICe could probably answer almost instantly.

     @CloudyMrs good luck in getting an answer to that one. Or an answer to where the money goes that the UK supposedly spends on Scotland's behalf but not in Scotland. The accounting figures are designed to be opaque. Are proportionately charged for schemes like HS2 line that benefits no one north of Manchester
