Just FYI: The person on the phone was super nice, did the booking for me, and required way less data for it than the web forms. And they have special permissions for debit card payments without 3D Secure and such (which is one of the things the back-end wasn't able to handle).

  I have seen many shitty transport company booking websites, but the sheer amount of catastrophic errors on https://www.gnv.it takes the cake for now.
  It's currently 100% impossible to pay with either payment option for me, solely due to back-end implementation mistakes. Not even speaking of hilarious other back-end errors, like being completely unable to process account numbers (which they want you to enter manually, because being logged in doesn't identify you during booking).
