     social media (ala Twitter, Mastodon etc) is not about friends and family. it is about democratizing mass media. nobody complains that the talking heads don't know all the people watching them on TV. it's about the best info, ideas and art spreading via word of mouth (now on steroids).

     groups are for friends and family. maybe if we had those here already, people wouldn't try to lump it all together.
