   @PurpCat @trump Licensing is such an unneccessary topic. I just wish this wasn't a thing and copying stuff was just always legal.

   I almost never add licenses to my projects, except I have to, and I don't care what people do with the stuff I publish online.

     Yes, provided software and the source code has validly been placed into the public domain, that is free software.
     
     The drawbacks is that it's not legally possible to release something to the public domain in many countries and how that people and companies can take public domain stuff and remove the freedom and often do.

     No version of the GPL is an eula, considering that eula's are designed to take the users freedoms and attempt to restrict activities that are legally permitted, while all versions respect the users freedom.

     Companies cope and seethe that they can't just take the software and make it proprietary, as that would consistent copyright infringement.
