@Alex I would probably say other stuff in the Arch conceptual space as well (Manjaro etc.) and to some extent Void? Meme distros, to use the /g/ term for it.

In other words, Arch Linux is not worth using, but any other distro is potentially worth using.

@Alex In general, if you can't articulate *why* you're using a distro in a grounded and concrete way, you probably have no business maining said distro.

My view is that if you have a particular reason for using a distro that isn't "I want to show off online", "the popular kids said I should use it" or something similar, it's worth using that distro. It depends on the user's wants and needs, really. The issue with meme distros is that most people only use them to be able to tell other people they use them, which is rarely ever a good reason to do anything.

@SuzyCreamcheese I'm nowhere near gnupilled enough for that but I have to respect the hustle

@allison I have moved into the more autistic parenthesis camp :rokalife: my init system is written in guile, os configured in guile and apis in guile

@allison guix is nice. I only used a week i guess but I have been liking it. First it can also manage my emacs packages so I can move to just one and not the emacs package manager and pacman or whatever. Then I have like 3 files that define my operating system and all I need to do is change one thing of them to move it to other devices
Arch I was fine with, but it also doesn't have much going for it.

@SuzyCreamcheese tbh the other problem I have with GuixSD is the fallout of FSF RYF and "free distro" guidelines means the default images are unusable on any machines I own and if I use the regular Linux kernel with a downstream third party image that's an officially unsupported usecase
