    @yassie_j

    tech “journalists” have spent so much time in the California bubble that they cannot perceive any metrics beyond “market share” and “growth"

    i think this applies to many other things honestly

    my personal favorite example is tesla. tesla is a shitty ev. it can look cool, but it has objectively shitty hardware design, it can only really work in the californian climate (no harsh winters, no harsh summers in populated areas)

    and tech journos fucking love them, they sing praises and lick those stupid door handles that are impossible to grapple after any freeze

    meanwhile, most people ive met (and myself) genuienly cannot think about owning one in a place like central russia, where the weather can jump between sunny 20c during the day and wet snow at -10c at night

      @Makura @halva @yassie_j No, I mean, the CEO should be exposed to criminal liability for interfering with legally-mandated work safety standards.

      @Makura @yassie_j @halva Why is it even legal for some jackass to interfere with that?

      @halva @yassie_j no it's a design that's forced onto the cars by degenerate emerald mine owner himself, probably

      did you see the testimonies where Elon made Tesla factories much less safer because he didnt like the colour yellow and forced painting safety markers in light grey

      @Makura @yassie_j it's a design that SCREAMS it was made for perfect conditions, it was not made to survive in fucking Surgut, Siberia

      @Makura @yassie_j honestly building EV chargers is the least of worries (640 km of range is decent enough for most people)

      what about the clearance? teslas have notoriously low floors, it WILL get caught on every bump of a road

      what about the system control? why is the infotainment system responsible for engine, remaining range, emergency lights and literally absolutely everything in the car? what if it breaks? what if i cannot look at it to switch things?

      what about the fucking door designs in general? why are they electronic? what if the electronics just fail for whatever reason? the mechanical fallback is purposefully hidden

      what about the emergency engine stop? tesla have implemented that through electronics too, there's no way to literally pull a mechanical thing to physically stop the engine

      @halva @yassie_j same here

      not to mention there is NO infra for them, so you can get fucked if it dies on a roadtrip (it will)
