@madjo@fsf Android and Sailfish are proprietary. You could switch to Librem 5 with PureOS, which is a libre GNU/Linux distro. Another option might be PinePhone Pro, but it requires proprietary firmware packages for some things to work.

I have more faith in Apple’s assurances than in Google’s. After all the latter used to have “don’t be evil” in their statutes until they quietly removed it.
Also the link is to a really old article. All online services have csam scanning technology built in.

The truth is that apple spies on an incredible level but lies, while google spies just slightly less (pretty much the same tbh), but actually admits what spying they do and allows you to view it.
