   @dave @samsethi @evan @270016 Is there some way of "forcing" the mastodon server to fetch all past episodes? If I follow a podcast, I only see episodes more or less from the time I start following it, even though it shows me that there are many more.

     @rrrrrok @dave @samsethi @270016 you guys are kidding, right? Every actor has an `outbox` collection that has all their past activities. Federation peers can read it any time.

     @dave @samsethi @evan @270016 aha! I guess it would all show up at once, not chronologically? And this would need to be some custom functionality that you would specifically implement for podcastindex, it's not some functionality of AP? Extensions like ForgeFed must have something to accommodate this

     @rrrrrok @samsethi @evan @270016 Currently there isn't because of the way Mastodon behaves. It wants everything to have been actually delivered to the sharedInbox before it will be visible to users on the instance.

     I can see sending a command to the actor like maybe "catalog" or something that would then send you the entire back catalog. After doing that once (any user) all the past episodes would be visible on the instance for everyone. A little pain in your timeline though.

     @evan @dave yes exactly - my question was why this outbox apparently isn't being read by mastodon for the podcastindex actors. Or at least it doesn't seem to be in my case (I only see the episodes since I started following a podcast)
