systemd is pretty much useless unless you have libsystemd (part of systemd) installed, otherwise much software can't be compiled to use systemd.
The bug seems to apply only to distros that have openssh compiled against libnotify, which was almost all systemd ones it seems (although many hadn't yet updated to the exploit version it seems). -

I am looking for a middle ground. If someone has systemd installed do they need libsystemd?
