NHS Scotland. A couple of Saturdays ago I had a sick person in the house.
I called NHS24 at 10. Got an out of hours GP appointment locally at 12. An ambulance was called at 12.30. It arrived within 20 minutes. Sat outside the hospital for about 1 hour as a more urgent case arrived at the same time. Admitted, cared for, tested and sent home much better after four days. Staff from all over the world but great care throughout. Not the horror show I'd been led to expect by the BBC. #nhsscotland

At all of them I received excellent care from superb staff. I can't rate them too highly. Not at all the nightmare the media like to present

Sadly, the problem with the NHS (my experience is England, but imagine it's similar for Scotland and Wales) is that although it's a national service, every individual trust can make up its own rules/targets/policies, which turns one national service into a massive array of contradicting departments. I work for an ambulance trust that covers a vast region, and the hospital trusts are all different. One trust will allow one thing, where its neighbour won't. THAT's the problem!
