     I was wondering what about emergency systems, but this claims they aren't connected to propulsion which I guess makes sense power-wise.

     @VikingWays my assumption would be that losing main power is not common, because boats this size can screw things up BAD ( suez canal being an example )

     @sickburnbro Given that all fail safes sounded inadequate and there was a crosswind, I'm surprised things like this dont happen more often.
