There are two fediverses. One of them will comply with these rules, and with whatever rules come after that.

@chancey I'm sure it will be rationalized somehow. E.g. "this is where the people are!"

So you have to abide by all of the restrictions of Facebook or you get banned? Why bother trying to federate with these losers?

@silverpill my server met all that and we were blocked anyway (since then I have restricted publicly accessible feed because of performance reasons)

@silverpill I'm curious about the "publicly accessible feed" requirement. It's not at all clear to me what this means.

Will they refuse to federate with a site that's entirely hidden behind a login page?

Or a site that doesn't have a web front end at all, and only provides service via, say, mobile apps?

@FenTiger Sounds like that. I think they may use publicly accessible feed to analyze content published on an instance (perhaps by feeding it to some kind of AI?) to see if it violates their content policies.

@arielcg Such lists of requirements tend to grow over time and one day admins may find themselves in a situation where they need to go through the bureaucratic hell just to stay connected.

Not interested in that. I came here to make my own rules.

@silverpill TBF every instance should comply with those basic requirements.

A basic document explaining what data the system collects, where you store it (hosting provider/s, jurisdiction...) should be included in any serious instance

In the EU minors can't accept privacy policies under certain age, and do get restricted between 13-18 or whatever age each country establishes. Also, keep your fkn kids out of social media, god damn it.

And a public feed... I don't see a problem with that
