@Arcana @dushman @nyx it's mainly just your dream entering your physical space, while you're obviously unable to move. It's the desire to "fight back" that causes it to be scary, you have to be aware basically of how you're creating that vision and what it's responding to.
If you can be completely neutral and accepting, you can ask the figure to pull you out of your body so you can astral project, or you can imagine it doing so and it'll follow.
Then you just have to remain calm enough when it happens to not wake up from excitement of astral projecting. If you can do that sleep paralysis goes from scary as fuck to a very useful tool
