I strongly agree.
We are building this network from the ground up. Why would we put all that work into making something that didn't make us happy?

Happiness researchers aren't unanimous on what makes us happy. One model is Martin Seligman's PERMA:
- Positive Emotions: Feeling good, experiencing joy, gratitude, and pleasure.
- Engagement: Being fully absorbed in activities, leading to a state of flow.
- Relationships: Having strong, positive connections with others.
- Meaning: Belonging to and participating in something bigger than oneself.
- Achievement: Pursuing accomplishment and mastery for its own sake.
These are all things you can develop on the Fediverse.
@jkxyz this isn't social media in general. This is *your* social media. You can make it work however you want. Why not use it for your own happiness?
@evan I was “somewhat agree”, only because I think it’s still an open question whether social media in general makes me happy. Maybe it serves an overall beneficial purpose beyond just happiness. I _am_ happy to be here, though!
Did you ever hear of a protein named "Tafazzin"?
@aaronwinstonsmith @jkxyz doubleplusgood
I just want to serve the big brother :D
@evan let the happiness researchers fight it out
@johnefrancis I think the main difference is that some researchers think that physical well-being is an important component, while others think it should not factor in.
