   Lot of mention of the Ferret Filibuster going on to the point that now starting to get some queer people start to try and poke negatives at it saying things like its bad that an animal welfare private members bill got hijacked.

   Just to clarify, the Animal and Welfare Bill (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) did still pass its 2nd reading, its just that MPs took the time to list of the names of all their pets and friends pets during the session so there was no more time to discuss the following anti-trans bill.

   Do not be alarmed, no ferrets were harmed in the ferret filibuster.

     the animal welfare bill was hijacked because it allowed MPs to talk at length about animals and be silly for a long time, rather than the more thorny option of doing the same during an anti-trans bill. It provided plausible deniability cover in a lead up to an election for politicians in all parties.

     For reference, on the video player page, if you click on "Agenda" on the right you'll see the private members bills scheduled to be discussed in that session. The third bill on the list, the "Private Members' Bills: Health and Equality Acts (Amendment) Bill: Second Reading" is Liz Truss's bill to ban hormone therapy for trans people under 18 years of age.

     MP Samantha Dixon MP (City of Chester, Labour) "..and talking of the RSPCA, i thought i would take the opportunity as it hasnt been taken many times, to actually talk about ferrets a little more (hubub of approval, MPs murmering "yay" and "ah excellent excellent") because obviously with the exception of the right honourable learned lady for Banbury i dont think we've talked about ferrets in this place at all, maybe talking more likely about Reverse-Ferrets than Actual Ferrets (laughter at the joke about transphobes). So im gratefuly to the RSCPA for their Fun Fact Sheets on ferrets which im going to refer because.. ive learned a great deal about ferrets while researching this particular debate (more laughter). Apparently ferrets are Mustela Putorius Furo which translates to "Stinky Raging Thief" and is a close ancestor to the european polecat and because of their charming and cheeky characters have become popular pets.."

     but after my Honourable Friend from Chesters' contribution i am seriously considering also getting a ferret which my father has always wanted one..
