   @memes This is an adorable picture but the trucker shortage is 100% fake and has to do with suppressed wages and working conditions. It’s not that there aren’t drivers, its that their aren’t drivers willing to live in a sleeper cab for pennies.

     @tk It’s 100% what it is.

     It’s actually worse, at my nightmare-that-doesn’t-end job, our bosses only made 1.3 billion in profits this year :blobsad:

     So they cut the profit sharing program (which my department got cut from ages ago).

     That wasn’t nearly enough! To make more money, they realized that rather than wasting money buying a truck, hiring and then training drivers, and then paying them – it was cheaper to hire smaller fly-by-night companies to haul freight. So they are slowing down their hiring process – and since we have a 30%+ turnover rate, in no time at all, we’ve been seeing mostly 3rd parties in our yards now.

     Buuuuuuut there is a driver shortage, lol. Ok, sure.
