   Loops isn't a new feature btw, it shipped back in 2019 and was originally a simple web UI for videos.

   This has been a long time coming, and I'm so proud of the progress. I think y'all will really enjoy this.

     @usagi Most likely S3 or other compatible object storage providers.

     Loops are limited to 30 seconds of duration, and resolution, and will be optimized on device before uploaded.

     Storage is cheap if used efficiently 😉

     @dansup@mastodon.social When it comes to federated video site there always comes up the obvious question: where would the videos be stored?
     
     While a typical Mastodon server can use some of the tiniest VPSes you can count the number of videos you can store on such VPS on your fingers. :ablobcatpopcorn:
