     @jgrg @thomasfuchs They are true masters of manipulative PR, capable of convincing their fanbase and a big part of the public that what they've just witnessed is a great success and a major step forward, despite the vehicle falling apart etc. Well, it is not, they are still nowhere near achiving any of the major milestones set for them by NASA for the lunar program.

     @thomasfuchs I find it amusing that during the live streams their announcers don't remark about things that are quite obviously going wrong, such as "no the starship is not supposed to be spinning like that!”

     @thomasfuchs the thing about the successes of spacex and tesla is that it basically relies on the goodwill and ingenuity of the people working there who believe in “the cause”. It never made him some 4d-chess playing genius any more than it would have any other guy with an attitude problem and a pile of money.

     @thomasfuchs this is the most frustrating thing. Spacex has changed an industry and there’s cool science. Govt funded development. Really, same thibg for Tesla. If it wasn’t for e and *handwave* the rest, it’d all be incredible

     @thomasfuchs Yeah, and if you put all your eggs in the basket of "haha, Starship go boom," when it stops going boom (and they have a pretty good track record there of pushing hard in research mode, but being reliable on delivery), you lose your credibility to criticize.
