   @joeo10 I’m aware. I’m generally in agreement with @mmasnick, but I diverge here. It’s not a ban, but a forced sale. No one would support letting Putin buy Comcast or ABC news. Tiktok isn’t just any business. It’s a massive cultural influencer without precedent. The risks are not imaginary.

     @shoq @mmasnick There's absolutely no chance (IMO) that ByteDance is going to sell TikTok plus with a ban, you're going to piss off Gen Zers and younger voters especially (if they haven't been pissed off already in recent weeks, see Gaza and KOSA).

     In addition, this bill is blatantly unconstitutional to boot due to First Amendment issues and Meta/Facebook are lobbying very hard for such a ban so they can solidify their dominant position in social media, no secret there.

     @shoq @mmasnick I still believe that if the US passed a simple. strong privacy bill years ago, I feel this would have been a non-issue.
