    @mjgardner @newsmast Interesting as I ended up just blocking the domain as a user because it seemed like it was just a bunch of bots re-tooting stuff just because of hashtags. I was thinking, "Man, I don't need that." I'll just subscribe to hashtags if that's what I want.

      Hi @cs

      Our Community Feed accounts are automated mirrors of the Communities on the Newsmast app.

      Our Communities are hand-curated using filters, follows, hashtags and mutes - by humans. You can't replicate it with hashtags alone, but we understand the frustration!

      Our aim is to better help people find topical knowledge on the Fediverse, something we struggled with when we first joined.

      If you want to see Communities firsthand, visit the Newsmast app on Apple App Store and Google Play.

      I’m trying out the #Newsmast app for #Mastodon by @newsmast.

      Interesting idea, trying to bootstrap discussion by curating other accounts and hashtags into “communities,” then encouraging users to post to them.

      @newsmast The #Newsmast app simplifies and sands down too much of #Mastodon to be my daily driver. Examples I’ve found so far:
      • moving inline hashtags such as those above to the end of the post
      • reducing accessibility by smashing CamelCase hashtags to lowercase
      • no way to limit posts to “unlisted,” “followers only,” or “mentioned only” (a/k/a “private” messages)
      • no draft posts
      • no apparent way to set content warnings or honor filters

      Hi @tokyo_0 as @cs has done, simply block the newsmast.community server and our automated feeds won't be able to see your posts.

      You can see more info on how it works and why we created Community Feeds here (there's nothing commercial about them): https://newsmast.social/@newsmast/111963831495789541

      Hope this helps!

        📢 “What are Community Feeds? Why has my post been boosted?” You make a post, add a hashtag, and it’s immediately boosted by one of our Community Feeds - plus you get a notification. What’s going on? We’re Newsmast and we’re all about knowledge sharing. We’ve built topical Communities, spaces that anyone can dip in and out of to get involved in the things they care about. Communities combine and curate posts from all over the Fediverse into an easy to access single source. #newsmast

      @tokyo_0

      Posts aren't share by our automated mirrors if you block the instance.

      We will also take action to block your account from our server to ensure that we don't interact with you in anyway.

      Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help.

      @tokyo_0

      Sorry, from our instance any account can block an instance as a whole.

      We weren't aware this wasn't the case across the board.

      We have now prevented your account from interacting with newsmast.community by suspending your account from the server. You should no longer be bothered by our automated accounts.

      Thank you for bearing with us.
