so quick update on my mum's women's group in her village in the middle of their course on something something ethics of modern identities and the session on trans identity.
They have broached Julia Serano - The Whipping Girl, Susan Stryker - my Words to Victor Frankenstein above the village of Chamonix. Performing transgender rage, and stuff by Sophie Grace Chappell.
a room of very well educated academics and they were all foxed on where the term cis came from.

I asked did she read all of the whipping girl and she said half of it, and i replied thats pretty much the same as every trans girl

@siege Most science and maths graduates are familiar with cis as a term for "on same side as". Same with geographers. "Well educated" may not include all subject areas I guess.

@Kay so yeah i dont know, i think theres this odd block where all the words are so alien that the idea that it could be anything to do with latin is not where peoples minds go
