     Nope, you can talk about it. Generally its frowned upon to advertise or promote with the intention of recruiting. A candidate needs to come to you and ask. Though even this is a debated rule.

     There are secrets you cant share, but since I havent been initiated yet I don't know any of those.

     @chris This is my initiation, so I guess first degree, or do they call it 0 or something weird? If i understand correctly from my private research I should be an Entered Apprentice after this ritual.

     Great to hear you are a (soon to be in my case) follow freemason!

     @freemo Yeah, this sounds like your first degree. There are three for normal masons (and all sorts of options after that). I confess I haven't been to a lodge meeting since 2011 though. I've kept paying dues as they do some good things in the area I was in but I've never joined another lodge since moving from that area.

     @freemo Ah ok so that explains why they wouldn't show me how to break a brick with a trowel or how much mortar to use. Thankfully it's not difficult to figure either of those out.

     At least I wasn't bludgeoned with a hammer.

     @AmpBenzScientist We use those tools all the time, just not for laying bricks :) I dont yet know how they are used, but in some sense in ritual I'd imagine.
