I am actually quite distraught about the news about Akira Toriyama tonight, Something I never expected to hear at all.
I'll never forget that Dragon Ball was one of the few Animes I grew up watching with my entire family alongside Pokemon (of course). It was so cool and different at the time that even after 20+ years I still love Dragon Ball, even if there was flops in the mix. I personally never really gotten into the Dragon Quest games yet in my life but always interested, But to know that those games have inspired many people out there, alongside his mangas he has done, Truly shows what legacy he will leave behind for all of us.
May the man rest in peace.

DQ are Very nice cozy games, they feel like comfort food to me. I especially love DQ IV and V.
I can't think of many constants in my life that have remained as long as Toriyama's work, it's really a big loss.

@PonyPanda @anonicus I'll never forgive him for forgetting about Lunch but holy shit DB and DBZ were important to me
I didnt have cable TV my entire childhood but during those bursts of time where we could afford it I would watch it every time it was on :sadcaco:

@dielan @anonicus love for DBZ got me as a kid to go the mysterious, dodgy parts of Chinatown to buy pirated Dragonball GT VCDs.
It also lead me to Toriyama's World, the scanlation group's fansite because I wanted to read Dr. Slump. And that's how I became a manga fiend.

@PonyPanda @anonicus I remember the international channel (channel 14 in my area) would air JP dub episodes that were way ahead of the English dub and my parents would record these on the VCR for me to watch
My young mind was not ready to see Trunks slice frieza to ribbons. This version was noooot censored lol
