It seems that there is a variance in neuroarchitecture that creates the "predisposition" for psychopathy but the ones who break bad are the ones who had rough childhoods (these are also the ones who subsequently showed the stereotypical signs as children of torturing and killing animals and/or setting fires). Low IQ may also come into play, but not always. Ted Bundy was moderately high functioning.
     
     I would estimate from, uh [TRUST ME BRO OK] that at least 20-25% of surgeons have strong psychopathic tendencies and in the ultrahigh risk fields (vascular surgery, cardiothoracic, ortho spine, neurosurgery) that percentage is much, much higher. These are still (mostly) non-criminal productive members of society with families and legitimate lives
     
     For a man the advantage is obvious: you look fearless under pressure, you can make snap decisions, you can be charming at will.
     
     For a woman I can see several advantages as well. You are even better at manipulating others than the average female, you can monkeybranch and upgrade at will with zero regrets, and you can always sex-bait a man into violently dealing with any "problems" in your life.

     @TrevorGoodchild @sickburnbro how much is the bad wiring and how much is environmental factors/ learned behavior necessary in producing a psychopath. when i've looked into the neurobiology of it most of the studies were on low fuctioning individuals who were abused or impulsive. the highfunctioning phenotype seemed prevalent in high stress high risk industries. is the wiring a natural adaptation that can be channeled or are they broken? is there any adaptive benefit for a female with the trait

     @TrevorGoodchild @sickburnbro definitely a positive for a man that can control it. it seems like the lack of empathy would result in a fitness hit for a woman in that childcare and bonding would be difficult. advantage to the individual but death to the breeding line. maybe high intelligence and extreme religiousity could save it.

     @sickburnbro @alchemy Interesting thought. Couples say that once they hit the third or fourth child they honestly felt LESS overwhelmed rather than with just a singleton. I've noticed that moms with 3-5 kids do a lot better, seem less frazzled

     @sickburnbro I can talk bit about female psychopaths. Before going any further here is my sister's resume of destruction:
     
     1) On the day I was born, she wanted to kill me
     
     2) During childhood she would routinely steal money from my parents and I. As a result, I would always had to constantly move my money around.
     
     3) In her teen years she was vary manipulative of other teenage boys.
     
     4) She lied to a man claiming she was on the pill. Her plan was to secure funding for the next 20+ years. She was so dumb and arrogant that even during the court hearing she even admitted to lying to the man to get knocked up. She honestly believed the judge would go along with her scheme only for him to grant the man in question his request to terminate parental rights.
     
     5) She took part in a planned hit. Where her "friend" hired a hit man to have her BIL knocked off. And my sister planned everything out to where they would travel across state on the night of the hit to see me. Keep in mind, it is an 8 hr drive to where I lived. I informed her that I didn't want to see her. Yet my parents were ecstatic thinking that we were going to be on good terms. I told them both that this was just a ploy. It was only weeks latter, in the newspaper was her "friend" arrested for hiring an undercover cop to knock off her BIL.
     
     6) During her teen years she would routinely target single moms with daughters to baby sit. However, her purpose wasn't to make money or learn parenting skills, she would diddle many of these little girls.
     
     7) She engaged in homewrecking. In both cases she would manipulate the husband and wife to think that the other was cheating on the other spouse.
     
     There is more I can list, but all too often people when they hear "psychopath" they think of some handsome man or gorgeous woman. Who is above intelligence. What that tells me is the person watched too many Hollywood movies. Where if my sister is any indication, psychopaths are fucking dumb and arrogant. They are so arrogant that they fail to realize that people engage in pattern recognition.
