@patrickcmiller I don't understand why we make humanoid robots. All that effort into balance, locomotion when wheels would be far better. Years of research time wasted. Damn wish I had wheels sometimes. Why does it need a head? It doesn't.
@dr_a this isn't impossible, but it's not as feasible as it sounds. Human-like robots will have more moving parts than necessary for specific-purpose functions that specialized (shaped) robots can do for a lower total cost of ownership. Maintaining machines is more expensive than most expect.
@nf3xn@patrickcmiller The most common justification I’ve heard is then the robots can step right in and use human infrastructure. That makes sense in environments where the infrastructure can’t be changed. It’s also another weapon to keep human workers in line through the threat of immediate replacement.
