iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Sunday, 03-Mar-2024 15:10:21 JST iced depresso @Vo they had some server-side stuff to catch out botters. like. the history of runescape anticheat is strangely advanced for a game.
they had polymorphic encryption to screw over SCAR and later adopted some kind of statistical bots to do anomaly detection.
blizzard has to resort to lawfare and everyone else does kernelshit. jagex somehow figured out how to avoid both. -

Vo (vo@noauthority.social)'s status on Sunday, 03-Mar-2024 15:12:43 JST Vo @icedquinn Bots are still around, though. They never completely won.
They made botting part of the economy. The bots that do menial tedious shit that players don't want to do are allowed to stay. The bots that interfere with players doing enjoyable stuff get banned. Things like raiding, PvP, hiscore skilling.
