    @grahamperrin @linus hi! I don't know if Linus is doing it but many people configure their accounts to auto delete posts after x days. That could explain why there are some missing posts.

      @stefano found (luckily) another orphaned toot:

      <https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/@grahamperrin/111697383306560605>

      (Maybe @linus deleted the toot to which I responded.)

        @linus@telegrafverket.cc I agree with all your observations. It's clear, to me, that opening poster piizog prepared herself for eyebrow-raising undertones and overtones in her desktop-oriented discussion. Moderation in The FreeBSD Forums is, I think, an unenviable task. All things considered, the mods do a great job. Rules and guidelines do exist . I reckon, rule-breaking is: — least likely to occur in the many topics that are, or will be, solved (, for example) — most likely to occur in the off-topic sub-forum (there's another desktop-oriented topic on the first page). I do agree with all your observations, however let's note that (2024: The year of desktop FreeBSD?) is atypical. Re: there are various complements to the forums, with plenty of overlap. is not yet mentioned; expect various updates to the Community page in the months ahead. I like your choice of quote, 'If you can do no good, at least do no harm.' — Kurt Vonnegut HTH, thanks again.

      @stefano if I recall correctly there were at least two respondents to <https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/@grahamperrin/111688781615034634>. From <https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/@grahamperrin/111735088568465218> it seems that one of the respondents' accounts has been suspended.

      Am I mistaken in my memory of there being more than one respondent?

      Thanks

        2024: The year of desktop FreeBSD? piizog is "… about to write an article about this very subject to a Finnish computer culture magazine, from the viewpoint of a newbie-ish, enthusiast, non-sysadmin, desktop user. … I would be very interested in hearing of your reasons why people do or don't daily drive FreeBSD. This question is both out of general curiosity and as background for the article. Are you double booting with something else, for example? …" Reply in The FreeBSD Forums, if you can: .
