Sind deutsche #Braunkohlereviere mit #Waldbestand eine tickende #Brandbombe?
Acht Monate nachdem im französischen #Département #Gironde 34.000 Hektar Wald abfackelten, brennt es dort noch immer. Die unterirdische Braunkohle ist noch immer *über 300°C heiß* und die über 10 #Brandherde müssen von der #Feuerwehr täglich überwacht werden.
Wohingegen in #Frankreich vergleichsweise kaum nennenswerte #Braunkohlevorkommen existieren,...

  C'est un incendie presque invisible : sept mois après les gigantesques brasiers qui ont ravagé 34 000 hectares en Gironde, le sous-sol brûle toujours à Hostens. Le charbon d'une ancienne mine de lignite se consume sous terre, dans des foyers à plus de 300°C. Les autorités se demandent s’il faut pomper l’eau du lac pour inonder la zone.

  This is probably not reported far and wide... but it's pretty remarkable.
  2022 = hottest year on record in France, with drought + heatwave, resulting in widespread forest fires.
  200 days after the fires ended, in some places... they are still burning ... in the soil. The drought continues.
