Being thrown into a diaspora because of centuries of others determined to kill you and your people, and reclaiming land that was promised by God is a justification as powerful as you saying well, they were living there and that makes them indigenous, so by what right do you displace them?
In that context, your argument cannot stand, either.

@selzero not to mention that the people about whom you wrote that are NOT indigenous. They are Arabs whom the other arab countries MADE into refugees for 65 years after they tried to kill the state of Israel in its infancy.

I'm not really up for any great theological debate about the rights of Jews to a land inhabited for centuries by Palestinians, the descendents of Jews, Arabs, Africans, Romans and the many other ethnic/religious groups who make up the beautiful history of the holy land. Whatever you care to believe is your personal choice but regardless of how it is justified it does not now or never will make terminating another people and stealing their land ok. #NeverAgain

@jeremy_pm @gfjacobs @selzero Hmm, Herzl lived about that time, but leaving God aside, Jews were living in the area for quite a long time, and e.g. in Jerusalem in 19th century they were the largest group (even Marx found that out). Zionism is a political formulation of the Passover sentence “Next year in Jerusalem”, so in reality it is older than 127 years.
Palestinians identify, as per PLO Charter, as Arabs, so they are colonisers, not indigenous (the names reveal something, the surnames disclose their origins). Digging there has revealed many Jewish artefacts, not many Arab. As it is, Arabs/Palestinians have even tried to destroy archeological evidence.
Talk about European settlers is a bit off the mark, because nowadays majority of Israeli Jews are not from European diaspora.

Isn't this God you speak of the very same God worshiped by all Abrahamic religions? Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Zionism is a 127 year old European ideology in response to European antisemitism.
The Palestinian's are genetically closer to the historic holy land than any of the European settlers.
Not forgetting neither Christianity or Islam existed at the time the Old Testament was created.

@gfjacobs @selzero this is ridiculous. Palestinians are not just indigenous, they are in general genetically more closely related to DNA recovered from classical period Jewish burials than modern Israelis are.
