If you’re enjoying your current Mastodon app, you can still get the best of Newsmast. You can already follow our Community Feeds and soon we’re opening up our API to all developers, so hopefully we can deliver the same experience on whichever app you use.

That’s why we developed the Fediverse plug-in server, a shift in Fediverse architecture with a lot of potential.

Users can interact seamlessly across the two servers: like, repost, reply, follow, bookmark, add to lists and more. Newmast also adds the appropriate hashtags automatically when you post to a Community, helping other people across the Fediverse find you.

Users on big servers get a new, curated way of looking at the content in the Federated timeline, and users on small instances get all that extra content without the need for relays.

Newsmast Version III is one app and two servers combined.

It’s our latest release, out now on the App Store and Google Play, with desktop and PWA versions to follow soon.

In a first for the Fediverse, we’re seamlessly integrating content from your home server with Newsmast’s hand-curated Communities. It’s all hosted on our customised Mastodon instance, newsmast.social.

At Newsmast, you can see this by logging into our mobile app with your Mastodon account. From there you can see all of the content on the Newsmast server, as if you are a part of it, but any interactions will come from your home server account.

The goal for the future is to support other FediDevelopers in creating versions of this which can support any combination of servers, with the option to build communities within them - as we have.

The plug-in server is the idea that using Newsmast (or a modified Mastodon client) you can have your home Mastodon server and plug-in an additional one without creating a new account. So, all the interactions go out from your normal account, but you can easily switch between your home timeline (eg. Mastodon.social) and another server's timeline.

      Hey @tchambers

We built Community Feeds as a way for people to see everything in a community. They basically mirror what you'd see on Newsmast, without having to visit Newsmast.

This includes all the curation we've built into the communities to try and keep them on topic and safe.

Community Feeds can be seen and followed here: https://newsmast.community/about

We're hoping our API can help other FediDevelopers implement these, or similar, communities in their projects too.

@tchambers @newsmast good explanation thank you newsmast.. looking for the code? Is it open source? I'm interested in running an instance like this for a group of communities, contribution as well... Love how it can co-exist and supports instance cross pollination.
