@thomasfuchs I'm actually surprised it's that low. XP era hardware is just barely still usable today for a lot of internet things and that hardware was plentiful and cheap for a long time.
I speculate smartphones have replaced it more than later Windows machines.
@thomasfuchs a good part of that might be old manufacturing equipment. Nice little HMI that comes up automatically and they might not even know that it is running on XP. And some IT guy put it online years ago so that they would not have to run over to the plant to fix issues... Or in 3D printers. I took a resin printer apart about 10 years ago, new t the time, and it was running on an Embedded XP. No indication from the outside. No instructions to update, but network connected.
