   That just sounds like whitelist federation with Twitter.
   
   If the barrier is actually high, nobody will host instances.

     @silverpill@mitra.social Yeah, from what I read they were going to basically decentralized the hosting but centralize the protocol. So a host or node would get some kind of governance position and the "right" to host an instance on the protocol's network. It was very scummy sounding through and through.
