Trying to find that classic tweet by Evan You where he notes that he doesn't qualify for a Vue job that requires 5 years experience, as he created Vue only 3 years earlier.

@clacke I bet he qualifies for this job, though.

Ah, that's why it was so difficult to find, it was about FastAPI, not Vue. 🙃

      farside.link/nitter/tiangolo/s…

I saw a job post the other day. 👔

It required 4+ years of experience in FastAPI. 🤦

I couldn't apply as I only have 1.5+ years of experience since I created that thing. 😅

Maybe it's time to re-evaluate that "years of experience = skill level". ♻

"BTW, as this is being retweeted again, I wanted to clarify this:

That was about half a year ago.

Now I have 2+ years of experience with FastAPI! 🎉

      ...almost there. 😂"

@clacke For a chaser, there's [homebrew creator] Max Howell's classic tweet about inverting a binary tree on a whiteboard

@flyingsaceur Isn't a chaser supposed to rinse out the bad taste in your mouth? Or is that specific to a unicorn chaser?

@clacke It's a pickleback: irish whiskey and pickle juice. They balance themselves out, and the balance is “why would I want to work at either of those places?”

@clacke I'm sure lots of us have those stories, but I got a rejection in 2002 for not having 10 years of Java experience. I probably didn't want the job anyway, given that
