   I’m personally excited to see BlueSky and Threads interface with Mastodon. Decentralization in all its forms has gotten me excited about social media again. I welcome interoperability. Not everything has to lead to an “embrace extend extinguish” situation.

     @andresmh I agree. But we do need to identify where the real dangers to decentralization lie and resist them.

     With email, for instance:

     - Running a server is too hard
     - Spam control is too centralized
     - Good UX is mostly in the cloud

     The fedi needs to anticipate similar risks.
