That's why I'm proud to announce I'm running for President of the United States in 2024! 🇺🇸 🦅 🎆
I will heal the divide. Here's how.
My platform is simple. I believe what America needs is exactly one thing. END DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.
Guns. Immigration. Abortion. Taxes. These are things people vehemently disagree on. Who is right or wrong, I don't care. I want to do one thing. TO END DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.
Year after year. Hour after hour. The world continues on. The vast majority of people believe daylight savings time is a bad thing. And yet NOTHING HAPPENS.
What is the point of politicians? What is the point of the entire system? If even when we overwhelmingly AGREE on an issue, nothing is done about it?
The government could actually help here. But they can't even do the MOST BASIC thing. They have tried numerous times and failed.
This to me is the greatest failure of our great nation. And I am going to drain the swamp. I am going to MAKE THE GOVERNMENT DO THE MOST BASIC THINGS AGAIN (that's my campaign slogan).
Remember, a vote for Alex Gleason is a vote AGAINST daylight savings time.
This message has been approved by Alex Gleason. Alex Gleason 2024.
I was planning on staying home this election day but I might walk to my polling place (about 100 feet down the street from my house) to write your name in
According to the law, any governor can exempt their state from daylight saving. They meet for an annual convention twice a year. At that meeting, all the governors can exempt their state at once by submitting a letter - I think to congress? Or (time.gov), that crazy dept.
It could be done thorugh normal means but getting rid of Daylight Saving Time would end up packed with pork like funding some wars and shit.
@alex We do need to abolish the semiannual timeshift, but I think the opposite direction is ideal. Permanent DST. Shift all Western hemisphere clocks to the DST position and don't change them back or forward after the change. >But the sun won't be directly overhead at noon! Good. :gigachadyes: >The White man in his hubris believes cutting off the bottom of a blanket and sowing it to the top gives you a longer blanket. I am under no such delusion. I like having more usable time (not darkness) to do fun things with my family and enjoy the outdoors. Shifting to DST means the parts of the year with longer daylight (summer) coincide with more of that time spent outside of the 9-5 range. I would rather finish work while it's light and enjoy the nice outdoor weather.
@alex As a libertarian-leaning person from Indiana who hated when our former governor brought DST to our state, I'd unironically vote for you to make it federally illegal.
