Folks keep jumping up and down about the Hur report framing it correctly as an abuse of power.
While it was an abuse of power, IT. DOESN”T. MATTER.
That’s the way #politics works, always has and always will.
And if you think this was a low blow, it was a molehill compared to the mountain of shit coming this fall.

@barney I take your points, especially about the press. But that’s all baked in and no amount of screaming about it is going to change it between now and the fall. Apologies in advance for my cynicism, but we lost that battle for a functioning free press long ago. The zone is going to be flooded with torrents and amplified in the same way this story was, with no one paying attention to anything beyoond the sordid. Sorry I don’t have much hope and the waste of time has worn me down.

Yes, more low blows are coming. But it does matter, because we don't have a functioning free press.
The news story is not "but her emails" or "but his memory." The story is that a DOJ special counsel abused the power of his office, and broke the law, to turn his official report into a partisan smear.
The GOP will continue to flood the zone with bullshit. If the press continues to collect and amplify that bullshit, our democracy has no hope of survival.

@CassandraZeroCovid I get that. But that’s a sliver of the reason, with the underlying and more crucial piece being Garland goofed, long before this, and should have been replaced but no one has the stomach for that fallout on the Dem side. You can’t be worried about hitting the gas and breaking the speed limit when the train is about to run over you.
