      @kaia I could've bought a Porsche Boxster for a fraction of that a few years back. Now it's the annual budget to keep a shitbox on the road with tax, insurance, etc.

      @kaia You mean like average people pay 10K for a car ? Because most people I know can't go over 2K me included.

      @mangeurdenuage I only see 20k EUR+ cars, new cars for 50-80k EUR and I wonder who even buys those.

      @kaia Right. But there are a few nice thing about old cars. I bought one recently for 1K EUR., another 1K went into repairs. Now I have a car that was not recycled but repaired and reused. It's over 20 years old, so it's much sturdier than what you can buy now. And the best thing about it – no computers included (except for that tiny one used for fuel injection, but they work forever)

      @szescstopni that's really neat, but most old cars don't make emmission standards required for driving into German cities :angry_cirno:

      @kaia Correct. Things are going this way in Poland too, and this is OK. When I have to got to a city I take a train and use public transport. Unfortunately living in a forest without a car would be impossible for me.

      @kaia

      The other thing is that companies don't do small, cheap cars any more. Some just cancelled their bottom range - like Skoda or Seat. Other have their smallest cars grew up bigger than the Golf used to be. How is a Micra now the size of two old micras? How is the Aygo almost as big as 20 years old corolla hatchback? And why brands that offered great small cars are no longer on the market altogether (I love my Daihatsu and love what they have in Japan nowadays)

      @kaia I paid 1250 euro for my car...
      Had to do 800 in repairs because the seller hid the fact it was in a (albeit minor) collision so some parts were bent...
      But even after 2 years of owning and a bunch of upgrades and tuning it's less than 10K total ownership (incl. Fuel, roadtax and insurance). :|
