     @birdulon @adiz @ageha it is one thing to say that Ukraine is a fake state but its more defensible to say that parts of it are people that aren't and are only part of it because of Stalin

     @Moon @adiz @ageha Static borders are something I take for granted since it's felt like an underlying reality in my lifetime, but it's an aberration in history and it seems like I'll live to see them become more mutable (sorry FP lads, things are getting Imperative).

     @Moon @birdulon @adiz @ageha the language thing is an obfuscation - everyone had to speak russian in the USSR and those who didn't were, well, sent on a camping trip to siberia or kazachstan; also, there are other cases where people speak the same language but are distinct nations - the whole anglo world, germans and austrians, the whole francophone world, the whole spanish speaking world... the reasons for the whole shitshow are mostly geopolitical and justified by historic expansionism - "see, we've always done this because we're mostly flat land and need natural barriers around; oceans and mountains are good natural barriers, so if we can't have the atlantic at least we'll have the carpathians, leaving us with gaps that are easier to defend"
     
     the russian problem started somewhere before Peter I and continued to be a problem to this part of the world ever since, merely changing makeup and wigs every hundred years or so, and somehow westoids can't comprehend why would those states just out of the soviet bloc rush to join NATO, they are mindless drones, must have been CIA psyops because nuland said "fuck the EU".
