Next week my #autistic teen will need to get a taxi. He's not done this before and we won't be there to help. He'll need to navigate everything from finding the right (pre-booked) car to paying.
This strikes me as the sort of thing that there should be #LifeSkills resources for. Searching just brings up vague information about what life skills are, US-specific stuff, or expensive resources of unknowable quality.
Any #ActuallyAutistic people know of good UK resources?

@eleanorrees I was hoping to avoid the "more homework for Mum" option given I'm already running beyond sustainable capacity. But it always comes back to that, doesn't it?

@JetlagJen I tend to find published resources aren't much use because they don't usually fit the specifics of a situation so they create confusion.
I used to draw little stick figure cartoons or sort of flowcharts to try and cover what might happen in a situation and what the backup plan could be if it doesn't go to plan. Or try and do a practice run beforehand - so in this situation, send him in a taxi to a friend's house or something?)

The taxi section seems to be focused on hailing a cab rather than pre-booking, but it could be a good start on a lot of things.

@JetlagJen not that I know of, but I would both use and contribute to a wiki of "how to do this normal human thing that I've never had to do before", with sections of regionally appropriate advice.
