   I like how every corpo made their own VR glasses, and nobody cared until Apple did their own VR glasses.
   
   It's clear that the moment Apple does X thing, the world wants X thing. It's as if this world was licking Apple's butt.

     @adiz @ocean @enigmatico Android existed before iphone but when the iphone came out they completely rewrote everything to badly copy iphone

     @ocean@raru.re Eh, I think it's a lot of marketing more than anything. I remember smartphones before iPhone and they were pretty fine by smartphone standards at the time. Apple's devices are not, objectively, "the best" nor superior to any others (except maybe the VisionPro which is also like 5--6x the cost of a Meta Quest 3)---they just have the ability to pull the equivalent of "Jedi mind trick"s on everyone. @enigmatico@mk.absturztau.be

     @enigmatico Because Apple's products tend to turn existing tech into something thats actually palatable by normal people

     Absolutely nothing the iPhone did in 2007 was new, all of that was stuff other phones had been doing for years and in some cases more than a decade

     The iPhone made all of it actually usable and elegant

     Basically all their products are like that
