I would think there would be a ton of discussions about what are common misconceptions and not, both on the what are common part, and the what are misconceptions part. I'm kinda flabbergasted that there isn't.

To me, and I guess to anyone who has ever talked about the problem with roads with anyone, it seems totally self evident that "widening roads eases congestion" is an extremely common misconception! But Wikipedia needs sources, and I really respect them for that.
I'm sure someone here can help with that. A link to some sort of study on people's attitudes towards widening roads, for example? @notjustbikes, or someone in #Urbanism?

But also: It says "King Canute did not command the tide to reverse in a fit of delusional arrogance", but in the article about Knud that it links to it says "We do not know whether this really happened" 🤔😅
